The men of theErebusand theTerrorare still stuck in the ice, and theres no sign of things getting better.

The body count hasnt gone up quite yet, but dont worry, well get to that.

One of the most harrowing things aboutThe Terroris just how human all of these characters are.

Crozier, being Crozier, leaves it at, Travel well.

Though Crozier appreciates the gesture, he still cant approve of Franklins determination to move forward.

As far as hes concerned, their circumstances are only going to get worse.

Miffed, Franklin returns to theErebus, where he expresses his unhappiness with Crozier to Fitzjames.

Surprise, surprise: None of the lead parties do well!

The party in which Goodsir tags along is, at first, fairly peaceful.

Eventually, the party finds the shore.

The thing that tears into their camp and kills Lieutenant Gore (there it is again!)

doesnt look like any old polar bear.

Crozier speaks Inuktitut, but the man is beyond rescuing by the time the party returns to the ships.

The woman weeps, begging her father not to go and saying that Tuunbaq wont obey her.

Though Franklin tries to have her ejected from the ship, Crozier takes her aboard theTerror.

She doesnt seem to be far off the mark.

Even Croziers doomsaying is worse than usual.

The deer had been clueless, useless, helpless, and eventually slaughtered despite the mens best efforts.

As Crozier looks out over the ice, he wonders, is the same fate to become of them?

The watermark for things getting worse can be tracked by football.

By the end of it, the ball has been abandoned and half frozen over.

If you arent in love with Paul Ready by this point, I dont know what to say.
