Writing forThe Good Placemust be like doing a fun little puzzle, every week.
Yet solving every thorny plot problem with Michael and Janet used their magic powers would get old, fast.
Heres the problem the two-partGood Placeseason three premiere Everything Is Bonzer!
But the arrangement comes at a cost.
Michael is the one constant through the two halves of Everything Is Bonzer!
(Im a frog guy, the Doorman shrugs.)
Forcing Michael to slog his way through getting the gang back together serves two purposes.
(I didnt even think to chew it … Part one of the premiere quickly catches us up on how Chidis take two has been going.
He also met a lady!
Part two of Everything Is Bonzer!
brings us up to speed on Tahani and Jason.
Part two reveals both the advantages and disadvantages ofThe Good Places compressed storytelling.
Tahanis story line has some funny moments, mostly related to her name-dropping.
But for the most part, its exactly the right length.
But I couldve watched a full episodes worth of Jason Mendoza absurdity.
He was once interviewed on the news for finding a foot on the beach!
He once did a wheelie on a dirt bike through an entire Waffle House!
He demands that his ridiculously oversize crew eat, breathe, and vape dance!
His dancers insist that if anyone leaves their ranks, We can legally rob their houses!
(I was practicing virtue ethics while helping the two of you bone down!)
None of this is according to Michaels plan.
The problem is that Simones not the only new addition to the group.
So there you go: Trevors the Kryptonite in this Superman story.
Down Under
New year, new premise, new name for the notes section of theseGood Placereviews.
One major bummer with Everything Is Bonzer!
is the relative lack of Janet, whos stuck back at the office while Michaels on Earth.
But she does get a few memorable lines like, Hows Jason, is he still cute?
On some genre shows, the main characters the least interesting.
