Theres a story for every item.

No one in Hollywood has been busier thispilot season.

(In between, she directed two episodes ofMan With a Plan.)

I kept saying Im only going to do a couple, but what can I tell you?

Fryman said last month over breakfast in Santa Monica, after her four pilots were in the can.

Much like childbirth, you forget.

You think,Oh, its just two weeks here.

I love that person.

Ill just do it.When you look at it on paper, it looks so doable.

And then when youre in the middle of it, youre like,Wait, its a lot.

Often, more than one of those things happens on a single day.

At 58, Fryman is following in the footsteps of her mentorJimmy Burrows, TVs most accomplished sitcom director.

Does sheneedto work this hard?

Fryman is also clearly in her element on a sitcom stage.

Some directors need to try this, try that.

And you have to know the answer.

And she doesnt yell at people.

As the mother of 25-year-old twin daughters, Fryman says she cant help but be maternal on set.

I look at these kids and theyre asked to do so much so quickly, she said.

Shed ask me what feels great?

She commands ultimate respect while being supremely kind.

said ABC senior vice president of online grid comedy Jamila Hunter, who picked Fryman for the show.

Reflecting on the whirlwind, she continues, I have to admit I was crazy …

I will always be crazy.

This is [the] time of year I usually say,Next year, Im only doing two.

Its wildly sincere for me.Look how lucky we are!

thats how I feel as I drive onto the lot every day.

If I can remember which lot Im supposed to be on.
